Breast Cancer Ribbon

BEFORE YOU BEGIN making your friendship bracelet, you should know how to make a Right Hand Double Knot and a Left Hand Double Knot. You will also need to know how to make a Single Right-Single Left Hand Knot and a Single Left-Single Right Hand Knot.

1. Pick 2 different colors. The instructions uses pink (for the ribbon) & white. You will need one strand of pink and three strands of white.

2. Align string, fold in half, and tie knot 1/2 from fold forming a loop.

3. Attach your string to something using a safety pin or attach to a clipboard.

4. Separate strings from 1 to 8. Strings 1, 2, 4, 5, 7 & 8 are white and strings 3 & 6 are pink.

5. To begin, take string #1 (white) and make a right hand double knot with string #2 (white). String #1 (white) will now become string #3.

6. Take string #8 (white) and make a left hand double knot with string #7 (white). String #8 (white) will now become string #7.

7. Using string #4 (white) make 3 left hand double knots. One each, with string #3 (pink), string #2 (white) & string #1 (white). String #4 (white) will now become string #1.

8. Take string #5 (white) and make 3 right hand double knots. One each, on string #6 (pink), string #7 (white) & string #8 (white). String #6 (white) will now become string #8.

9. Take string #5 (pink) and make 2 left hand double knots. One each, on string #4 (pink) & string #3 (white). String #6 (pink) will now become string #3.

10. Next take string #3 (pink) and make a single left-single right hand knot with string #2 (white). String #3 (pink) will remain as string #3.

11. Now use string #5 (pink) and make a right hand double knot with string #6 (white). String #5 (pink) will now become string #6.

12. Use string #6 (pink) and make a single right-single left hand knot with string #7 (white). String #6 (pink) will remain as string #6.

13. Take string #4 (white) and make a right hand double knot with string #5 (white). String #4 (white) will now become string #5.

14. Use string #6 (pink) and make a left hand double knot with string #5 (white). String #6 (pink) will now become string #5.

15. Take string #8 (white) and make 2 left hand double knots. One each, on string #7 (white) & string #6 (white). String #8 (white) will now become string #6.

16. Take string #8 (white) and make a left hand double knot with string #7 (white). String #8 will now become string #7.

17. Take string #3 (pink) and make 4 right hand double knots. One each, on string #4 (white), String #5 (pink), string #6 (white) & string #7 (white). String #3 (pink) will now become string #7.

18. Use string #8 (white) and make a single left-single right hand knot with string #7 (pink). String #8 (white) will remain as string #8.

19. Take string #1 (white) and make 2 right hand double knots. One each, on string #2 (white) & string #3 (white). String #1 (white) will now become string #3.

20. Now use string #1 (white) and make a right hand double knot with string #2 (white). String #1 (white) will now become string #2.

21. Next take string #4 (pink) and make 2 left hand double knots. One each, on string #3 (white) & string #2 (white). String #4 (pink) will now become string #2.

22. Now use string #1 (white) to make a single right single left hand knot with string #2 (pink). String #1 (white) will remain as string #1.

23. Take string #4 (white) and make a right hand double knot with string #5 (white). String #4 (white) will now become string #6.

24. Take string #6 (white) and make a left hand double knot with string #5 (white). String #6 (white) will now become string #5.

25. Use string #6 (white) and make a right hand double knot with string #7 (pink). String #6 (white) will now become string #7.

26. Take string #3 (white) and make 2 right hand double knots. One each, on string #4 (white) & string #5 (white). String #3 (white) will now become string #5.

27. Take string #3 (white) and make a left hand double knot with string #2 (pink). String #3 (white) will now become string #2.

28. At this point your pattern will now repeat itself. Repeat steps 5-27 to continue the pattern until your bracelet is long enough to fit your wrist.

29. Once you bracelet is long enough to fit your wrist take the two strings 1 & 2 in your left hand and the two strings 7 & 8 in your right hand and braid them with the remaining 4 center strings.

30. Take the braided strings and tie two basic knots at the end of your friendship bracelet.

31. Unpin or unclip your friendship bracelet and cut off the excess braided section. Your friendship bracelet is ready to wear or share with your best friend or mom.
