Diamond

BEFORE YOU BEGIN know how to make a Right Hand Double Knot and a Left Hand Double Knot.

1. Pick 4 different colors for this pattern. This instruction uses pink, black, white & green.

2. Align string, fold in half, and tie knot 1/2 from fold forming a loop.

3. Attach your string to something using a safety pin or attach to a clipboard.

4. Separate strings from 1 to 8. Use the same color for strings 1 & 8 (pink), 2 & 7 (black), 3 & 6 (white) and 4 & 5 (green). This will align the colors of your bracelet pattern.

5. To start, you will need to make 4 single Arrows (see Arrow Pattern for instructions). One with each of your 4 colors in order (pink, black, white & green).

6. Make another Arrow with your pink strings. This will be the start of your diamond.

7. Take string #1 (black) and make 2 right hand double knots. One each, on string #2 (white) & one on string #3 (green). String #1 (black) will now become string #3.

8. Take string #8 (black) from the opposite side and make 2 left hand double knots. One each, on string #7 (white) & one on string #6 (green). String #8 (black) will now become string #6.

9. Now take string #1 (white) and make a right hand double knot with string #2 (green). String #1 (white) will now become string #2.

10. On the opposite side take string #8 (white) and make a left hand double knot with string #7 (green). String #8 (white) will now become string #7.

11. With your center strings #4 & #5 (both pink) make a right hand double knot.

12. Now take string #5 (pink) and make 3 right hand double knots. One each, on string #6 (black), string #7 (white) & string #8 (green). String #5 (pink) will now become string #8.

13. Use string #4 (pink) and make 3 left hand double knots. One each, on string #3 (black), string #2 (white) & string #1 (green). String #4 (pink) will now become string #1.

14. Both pink strings should be your outer strings 1 & 8 at this point.

15. Take string #4 (black) and make a 3 right hand double knots. One each, on string #5 (black), string #6 (white) & string #7 (green). String #4 (black) will now become string #7.

16. Take your new string #4 (black) and make 2 left hand double knots. One each, one string #3 (white) & string #2 (green). String #4 (black) will now become string #2.

17. Now take your center strings in slots 4 & 5 (both white) and make a right hand double knot.

18. Take string #5 (white) and make a right hand double knot with string #6 (green). String #5 (white) will now become string #6.

19. Take string #4 (white) and make a left hand double knot with string #3 (green). String #4 (white) will now become string #3.

20. Your center strings in slots 4 & 5 should both be green. Join these two strings with a right hand double knot. String #4 will now become string #5 and string #5 will become string #4.

21. Take string #1 (pink) and make 3 right hand double knots. One each, on string #2 (black), string #3 (white) & string #4 (green). String #1 (pink) will now become string #4.

23. Join your center pink strings from slots 4 & 5 to complete your diamond.

24. Repeat steps 7 – 23 to continue your diamond pattern.

25. Once you bracelet is long enough to fit your wrist you can make a few arrows at the end of your bracelet just like you did in the beginning. Then hold 3 strings from strings 1-3 with your left hand and 3 strings from strings 6-8 with your right hand. Braid the strings from your left and right hands with the 2 remaining center strings.

20. Take the braided strings and tie two basic knots at the end of your friendship bracelet.

21. Unpin or unclip your friendship bracelet and cut off the excess braided section. Your friendship bracelet is ready to wear or share with your best friend or mom.
